3 reasons I love my Skip Hop playspot

After bringing home our newborn baby I lost complete control of our house.  Having a baby was a life changing event for us.  Physically, mentally, and…domestically. I mean our bedroom was covered with sleep essentials.  Our garage was filled with baby gear.  Our living room doubled as a play room.  We had toys everywhere.  Everywhere. And the Amazon packages continued to arrive (I can’t stop, won’t stop!)  After a suggestion from a friend, I ordered the Skip Hop playspot for our living room as a way to bring order back in to our lives.  It has been a great way to lessen the chaos around our house.  Here are the top reasons why I love our play mat: The neutral tones complement our nursery and home decor ( 1):  We previously had a red, patterned rug in our living room that looked like it belonged in the 90’s.  The neutral tones and chevron pattern looks modern and has brightened up our living room. The tiles are soft making play time comfortable and safe ( 2):  We don’t have carpet anywhere in our house except for the bedrooms, therefore, when I would play…

5 toys for your three month old baby

I am extremely lucky to enjoy a long maternity leave.  I get to be home with my first born for six months.  Six. months.  How amazing is that?  I am loving every moment of it.  It’s hard.  It is really, really hard.  But I am trying to savor every milestone he has no matter how small because I know I’ll miss some of these when I go back to work.  For example, he is three months old and yesterday his hands opened and he started grabbing for some of his toys. How cool is that?  According to BabyCenter, the part of his brain that is in charge of his hand-eye coordination is developing this month.  He is becoming so fun to play with, but I have to admit as a newbie to this whole parenting thing I wasn’t exactly sure how to play with a baby.  So I did a bunch of research and I purchased every toy that was ever made (…or at least it feels like it) and put together a list of my favorites for his current age. Manhattan Toy Winkel Rattle and Sensory Teether Activity ( 1):  This toy…

10 must-haves for the first weeks with baby

Putting together our baby registry was a labor of love.  While it made my little bump feel more like a baby, I was clueless about what I needed.  There were thousands of products to choose from.  Did I need the natural flow or fast flow bottles? BPA-free? And what is colic? There was so much to learn.  Sure enough, when the baby arrived I was in desperate need of some things I had not registered for, but suddenly could not live without.  While Amazon prime was fast, I regretted not buying these prior to our little loves birth day. There were so many tears those first few weeks I would have flown to the moon and back if it would have made him feel more comfortable.  Here is my list of must-haves for less stress and more snuggles for bringing home your baby.   Baby wipe warmer (1): A wipe warmer may seem like a luxury item, but in our house I quickly found out it was not.  The cold wipes caused so many tears from the little one.  I guess it makes sense.  I don’t particularly like being striped naked and wiped with a cold…
