10 cute costumes for baby’s first halloween

Our baby’s first halloween costume is cause for much excitement.  He might not remember it and he won’t necessarily be trick or treating, but I’ve been dying at how cute little babies look in costumes.  Seriously, it’s scary how cute they are!  While I would like to think of myself as creative, I’m not exactly crafty.  I got a D in sewing class and my attention to detail and patience is slim.  I’m also cheap.  Remember that baby I just spent a bunch of money on?  So what I’m looking for is a cute, easy, creative and cheap costume for my baby’s first halloween that will knock everyone’s socks off at the fall carnival.  I’m in luck. I found some boo-tiful options! Halloween costumes:  1.  Gum ball machine 2. Mini scarecrow 3. Cutest pumpkin onesie 4. Wendy 5. Grandpa and Grandma 6.  Disney’s Winnie the Pooh  7.  Ramen noodles 8.  Homemade sushi rolls 9.  Elf on the shelf 10.  Lion at the circus What costume is your favorite…

Fall bucket list for your first year with baby

Fall is a fabulous time of the year, isn’t it?  For years, I have been fantasizing about the days when I can act like a kid again.  When I can jump in to a pile of leaves with my little one and sip a cup of apple cider next to the fire cuddling my baby.  Reality set in about three months ago, however, when I realized my little animal can barely sit, let alone jump and the only thing he’s sippin’ these days is my milk.  Oh, and he’ll be staying far away from fires [insert overprotective, anxious new Mommy face].  While there are some activities he may not be ready for, I found a handful of fun things we can do together to celebrate the changing of the leaves.  I put together a list of our (realistic) fall bucket list for the first year with a new baby. What activities are you doing this fall? &nbsp…

1-2-3 steps to a Halloween cake mix cookie recipe

Fall is my favorite season for many reasons.  Football games, campfires and holiday baking.  Life with a newborn baby doesn’t always allow for recipe-testing, grocery shopping and time in the kitchen, though.  Ya don’t say, right?  Therefore, I’ve been looking for the easiest recipes that also taste yummy.  This 1-2-3- step Halloween cake mix cookie recipe is a winner.  In fact, I made two batches of warm, gooey cookies while the baby was sleeping.  This includes a million trips to the animal’s crib to put his pacifier back in and a 30-minute stationary bike ride to work off that Mom body.  Er, or to earn my cookie-eating stripes? What simple holiday baking recipes are you making this fall? Ingredients:  Cake mix, eggs, vegetable oil and your favorite colored sprinkles. Step (1):  Use a mixer to combine the cake mix, vegetable oil, eggs and sprinkles.  Lots and lots of sprinkles. Step (2):  More sprinkles.  I wasn’t kidding when I said use a lot of sprinkles.  Splurge a little. Step (3):  Roll the dough in to medium-sized balls.  Place on a cookie sheet and bake for…

Easy fruit pizza recipe

While I would love to be making pumpkin pie and apple cider right now, it is 99 degrees in Northern California.  Instead of sitting by a cozy fire, I’m dipping my toes in the pool.  And I kind of like it.  So today I’m celebrating the Indian summer with a fun, easy and healthy treat.  And by easy, I mean very, very easy.  3-steps easy.  The I-have-a newborn-that-doesn’t-sleep easy.  So if you’re still soaking up some of those September sun rays and looking for a summer treat, enjoy. Rainbow fruit pizza For the crust: 1 tin of Pillsbury biscuits For the cream: 16 oz of plain greek yogurt For the toppings: 2 kiwis 1 mango 10 strawberries 1 carton of blueberries 1 carton of raspberries Use a rolling pin to roll out the biscuit dough into any shape you’d like.  Then follow the normal directions of the label for cooking the biscuits.  Remove and let cool from the oven. Once the biscuit dough has cooled, add as much greek yogurt to the dough as you would like using a knife to spread it evenly…
