Small shop spotlight: Little and Luxe

As a new Mom I’ve learned quickly that the best resource for advice is from another Mom.  That is why I love to shop small, especially when the owner is another Mom.  Moms know best (because they’ve had first hand experience) and that knowledge and creativity spills into their products.  I recently bought this “Greatest Adventure” blanket for my little animal from Little and Luxe and I can’t say enough great things about the quality and aesthetic.  Little and Luxe was started by fellow Mom, Lindsay – Mom of Isla.  She started the shop when she struggled to find Children’s room decor and accessories that were both eclectic and modern.  Personally, I love the rustic look-and-feel that suits my wild animal.  Check out here website!  My next buy?  The “Lumberjack” Cub Scarf…

10 cute costumes for baby’s first halloween

Our baby’s first halloween costume is cause for much excitement.  He might not remember it and he won’t necessarily be trick or treating, but I’ve been dying at how cute little babies look in costumes.  Seriously, it’s scary how cute they are!  While I would like to think of myself as creative, I’m not exactly crafty.  I got a D in sewing class and my attention to detail and patience is slim.  I’m also cheap.  Remember that baby I just spent a bunch of money on?  So what I’m looking for is a cute, easy, creative and cheap costume for my baby’s first halloween that will knock everyone’s socks off at the fall carnival.  I’m in luck. I found some boo-tiful options! Halloween costumes:  1.  Gum ball machine 2. Mini scarecrow 3. Cutest pumpkin onesie 4. Wendy 5. Grandpa and Grandma 6.  Disney’s Winnie the Pooh  7.  Ramen noodles 8.  Homemade sushi rolls 9.  Elf on the shelf 10.  Lion at the circus What costume is your favorite…

Starting solids: Why is it my favorite baby milestone?

The first smile.  The first time he made eye contact. When he chuckled.  When he rolled over.  His first unassisted nap.  These are some of the milestones I have heard about over and over again since becoming a Mom.  I have loved each and every one of these milestones, except the unassisted nap.  Maybe because we’re still working on that one.  But my favorite milestone so far has been introducing solid foods.  Why?  Because his facial expressions as he tastes each new flavor absolutely charming, endearing and hilarious.  When I ask other Moms why they don’t talk about how fun this stage is I often get a similar answer: “It is so stressful and confusing to know what to do!”  Ugh! This bums me out because this is such a fun milestone, but I get it.  When I reviewed the options with my pediatrician on how to introduce solid food there was so much to think about.  To help, I’ve put together a list of the tips that helped us keep things relaxed and fun during dinner time. Make sure your little one is ready for solid foods ( 1):  How do you…

3 reasons I love my Skip Hop playspot

After bringing home our newborn baby I lost complete control of our house.  Having a baby was a life changing event for us.  Physically, mentally, and…domestically. I mean our bedroom was covered with sleep essentials.  Our garage was filled with baby gear.  Our living room doubled as a play room.  We had toys everywhere.  Everywhere. And the Amazon packages continued to arrive (I can’t stop, won’t stop!)  After a suggestion from a friend, I ordered the Skip Hop playspot for our living room as a way to bring order back in to our lives.  It has been a great way to lessen the chaos around our house.  Here are the top reasons why I love our play mat: The neutral tones complement our nursery and home decor ( 1):  We previously had a red, patterned rug in our living room that looked like it belonged in the 90’s.  The neutral tones and chevron pattern looks modern and has brightened up our living room. The tiles are soft making play time comfortable and safe ( 2):  We don’t have carpet anywhere in our house except for the bedrooms, therefore, when I would play…

Fall bucket list for your first year with baby

Fall is a fabulous time of the year, isn’t it?  For years, I have been fantasizing about the days when I can act like a kid again.  When I can jump in to a pile of leaves with my little one and sip a cup of apple cider next to the fire cuddling my baby.  Reality set in about three months ago, however, when I realized my little animal can barely sit, let alone jump and the only thing he’s sippin’ these days is my milk.  Oh, and he’ll be staying far away from fires [insert overprotective, anxious new Mommy face].  While there are some activities he may not be ready for, I found a handful of fun things we can do together to celebrate the changing of the leaves.  I put together a list of our (realistic) fall bucket list for the first year with a new baby. What activities are you doing this fall? &nbsp…
