Fall is my favorite season for many reasons. Football games, campfires and holiday baking. Life with a newborn baby doesn’t always allow for recipe-testing, grocery shopping and time in the kitchen, though. Ya don’t say, right? Therefore, I’ve been looking for the easiest recipes that also taste yummy. This 1-2-3- step Halloween cake mix cookie recipe is a winner. In fact, I made two batches of warm, gooey cookies while the baby was sleeping. This includes a million trips to the animal’s crib to put his pacifier back in and a 30-minute stationary bike ride to work off that Mom body. Er, or to earn my cookie-eating stripes? What simple holiday baking recipes are you making this fall? Ingredients: Cake mix, eggs, vegetable oil and your favorite colored sprinkles. Step (1): Use a mixer to combine the cake mix, vegetable oil, eggs and sprinkles. Lots and lots of sprinkles. Step (2): More sprinkles. I wasn’t kidding when I said use a lot of sprinkles. Splurge a little. Step (3): Roll the dough in to medium-sized balls. Place on a cookie sheet and bake for…
Parenting a baby is hard. My little animal eats, sleeps and poops more than I ever thought possible. In between feeding sessions, diaper changes and nap times, I try to make it a priorty to get out of the house. Target is a great place to take a baby. It is loud, so he can be loud. It is big, so we can spend a lot of time there…and money. Sigh. And it has everything we need from diapers to clothes to cleaning supplies. This past Friday – after Beckham had eaten, slept and pooped – I thought it would be fun to take a field trip to Target to find some football-themed outfits. I was not disappointed in the cute items they had. He may not be ready to throw a ball in the backyard, but he can surely look the part, right? How cute are these? Hi! I’m new to the ‘hood – parenthood, that is! My little animal is Beckham. He’s three months old. Isn’t he cute? He looks like his dad, thank god. I’m also new to blogging. I’m no expert with babies. My little one is stinkin’ awful at taking naps. We live in our pjs. And my house is so messy it looks like I run a daycare. I love being a mom. I love being a wife and a mom. But it takes a village to raise a child. I’ve found that when I’m home alone and my baby is screaming, there is some mom out there that has been there, done that. I’m joining the village in hopes that a tip or trick I share might help you along your journey. Or at the very least, my trial-and-error methods of parenting will provide you with a chuckle – and a reminder – that you’re doing a great job. Enjoy the ride! Stephanie…
I am extremely lucky to enjoy a long maternity leave. I get to be home with my first born for six months. Six. months. How amazing is that? I am loving every moment of it. It’s hard. It is really, really hard. But I am trying to savor every milestone he has no matter how small because I know I’ll miss some of these when I go back to work. For example, he is three months old and yesterday his hands opened and he started grabbing for some of his toys. How cool is that? According to BabyCenter, the part of his brain that is in charge of his hand-eye coordination is developing this month. He is becoming so fun to play with, but I have to admit as a newbie to this whole parenting thing I wasn’t exactly sure how to play with a baby. So I did a bunch of research and I purchased every toy that was ever made (…or at least it feels like it) and put together a list of my favorites for his current age. Manhattan Toy Winkel Rattle and Sensory Teether Activity ( 1): This toy…
While I would love to be making pumpkin pie and apple cider right now, it is 99 degrees in Northern California. Instead of sitting by a cozy fire, I’m dipping my toes in the pool. And I kind of like it. So today I’m celebrating the Indian summer with a fun, easy and healthy treat. And by easy, I mean very, very easy. 3-steps easy. The I-have-a newborn-that-doesn’t-sleep easy. So if you’re still soaking up some of those September sun rays and looking for a summer treat, enjoy. Rainbow fruit pizza For the crust: 1 tin of Pillsbury biscuits For the cream: 16 oz of plain greek yogurt For the toppings: 2 kiwis 1 mango 10 strawberries 1 carton of blueberries 1 carton of raspberries Use a rolling pin to roll out the biscuit dough into any shape you’d like. Then follow the normal directions of the label for cooking the biscuits. Remove and let cool from the oven. Once the biscuit dough has cooled, add as much greek yogurt to the dough as you would like using a knife to spread it evenly…
