As a new Mom I’ve learned quickly that the best resource for advice is from another Mom. That is why I love to shop small, especially when the owner is another Mom. Moms know best (because they’ve had first hand experience) and that knowledge and creativity spills into their products. I recently bought this “Greatest Adventure” blanket for my little animal from Little and Luxe and I can’t say enough great things about the quality and aesthetic. Little and Luxe was started by fellow Mom, Lindsay – Mom of Isla. She started…
Our baby’s first halloween costume is cause for much excitement. He might not remember it and he won’t necessarily be trick or treating, but I’ve been dying at how cute little babies look in costumes. Seriously, it’s scary how cute they are! While I would like to think of myself as creative, I’m not exactly crafty. I got a D in sewing class and my attention to detail and patience is slim. I’m also cheap. Remember that baby I just spent a bunch of money on? So what…
The first smile. The first time he made eye contact. When he chuckled. When he rolled over. His first unassisted nap. These are some of the milestones I have heard about over and over again since becoming a Mom. I have loved each and every one of these milestones, except the unassisted nap. Maybe because we’re still working on that one. But my favorite milestone so far has been introducing solid foods. Why? Because his facial expressions as he tastes each new flavor absolutely charming, endearing and hilarious. When I ask other Moms why they don’t…
After bringing home our newborn baby I lost complete control of our house. Having a baby was a life changing event for us. Physically, mentally, and…domestically. I mean our bedroom was covered with sleep essentials. Our garage was filled with baby gear. Our living room doubled as a play room. We had toys everywhere. Everywhere. And the Amazon packages continued to arrive (I can’t stop, won’t stop!) After a suggestion from a friend, I ordered the Skip Hop playspot for our living room as a way to bring order back in to our lives…
Fall is a fabulous time of the year, isn’t it? For years, I have been fantasizing about the days when I can act like a kid again. When I can jump in to a pile of leaves with my little one and sip a cup of apple cider next to the fire cuddling my baby. Reality set in about three months ago, however, when I realized my little animal can barely sit, let alone jump and the only thing he’s sippin’ these days is my milk. Oh, and he’ll be staying far away…
Fall is my favorite season for many reasons. Football games, campfires and holiday baking. Life with a newborn baby doesn’t always allow for recipe-testing, grocery shopping and time in the kitchen, though. Ya don’t say, right? Therefore, I’ve been looking for the easiest recipes that also taste yummy. This 1-2-3- step Halloween cake mix cookie recipe is a winner. In fact, I made two batches of warm, gooey cookies while the baby was sleeping. This includes a million trips to the animal’s crib to put his pacifier back in…
Parenting a baby is hard. My little animal eats, sleeps and poops more than I ever thought possible. In between feeding sessions, diaper changes and nap times, I try to make it a priorty to get out of the house. Target is a great place to take a baby. It is loud, so he can be loud. It is big, so we can spend a lot of time there…and money. Sigh. And it has everything we need from diapers to clothes to cleaning supplies. This past Friday – after Beckham had eaten, slept and pooped – I thought…
Hi! I’m new to the ‘hood – parenthood, that is! My little animal is Beckham. He’s three months old. Isn’t he cute? He looks like his dad, thank god. I’m also new to blogging. I’m no expert with babies. My little one is stinkin’ awful at taking naps. We live in our pjs. And my house is so messy it looks like I run a daycare. I love being a mom. I love being a wife and a mom. But it takes a village to raise a child…
I am extremely lucky to enjoy a long maternity leave. I get to be home with my first born for six months. Six. months. How amazing is that? I am loving every moment of it. It’s hard. It is really, really hard. But I am trying to savor every milestone he has no matter how small because I know I’ll miss some of these when I go back to work. For example, he is three months old and yesterday his hands opened and he started grabbing for some of his toys. How cool is that? According…
While I would love to be making pumpkin pie and apple cider right now, it is 99 degrees in Northern California. Instead of sitting by a cozy fire, I’m dipping my toes in the pool. And I kind of like it. So today I’m celebrating the Indian summer with a fun, easy and healthy treat. And by easy, I mean very, very easy. 3-steps easy. The I-have-a newborn-that-doesn’t-sleep easy. So if you’re still soaking up some of those September sun rays and looking for a summer…
